(WTAQ-WLUK) — A west coast Green Bay Packers fan was nominated for NFL Fan of the Year.
The NFL announced the 32 nominees from all 32 clubs for the 2024 NFL Fan of the Year contest Thursday.
It recognizes extraordinary fans who spice up gameday through their unwavering love of football and inspires their community throughout the year.
Southern California native David Lucero says he became a Packers fan in the early 90s when other teams were leaving the Los Angeles area.
Now today, Lucero is a shareholder and a season ticket holder. Despite living thousands of miles away from Lambeau Field, he hasn’t missed a home game in nearly 15 years.
When the Packers are on the road, he organizes watch parties in southern California as the president of the Southern California Packer Backers. He also helps organize game trips for fans to experience a Packers game throughout the country. He also helps Packers players pursue their goals of giving back to their communities via coat drives, feeding the less fortunate during the holidays, Christmas toy drives, youth football camps in the summer and fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society and National MS Society.
The chosen nominees will represent their respective teams at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025.
Fans can support their favorite nominee by voting online until polls close at 11:59 p.m. ET on Feb. 5, 2025.
The contest will announce one winner as the Ultimate Fan of the Year who will be announced at NFL Honors, the league’s primetime awards show, during Super Bowl week in New Orleans on Feb. 6, 2024. Additionally, throughout the season, all 32 nominees will receive special prizes and have the opportunity to participate in exclusive experiences.
