(UW-GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) – GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay volleyball team handily downed the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Friday night in four sets (25-18, 19-25, 25-18, 25-18) to get back in the win column. The Phoenix will look to sweep the season series against Oakland tomorrow at the Kress Center at 2 p.m. The win moved Green Bay’s Horizon League record to 5-3 on the year.
The Phoenix was led by 19 kills from Katie Schulz, who has now finished with double figures in kills in eight consecutive matches. Danilynn Schell finished with 13 kills on the night while Emma Best finished with a double-double, 10 kills, and 18 digs. Calli Gentry spread the ball around the GB offense, finishing with 49 assists on the night. On the defensive end, Abby Gardner chipped in with 15 digs to go with four blocks from Ellie Kurpeikis.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix led the opening set from the start, and never looked back, taking the set 25-18. The offense led the way for GB, totaling 17 kills while only notching two attack errors in the process.
SET 2 | Oakland was able to bounce back in the second set with a decisive win of their own, 25-19. The Golden Grizzlies held an early lead before the Phoenix came by to tie the set at 12 all. From there the visitors would go on a 6-3 run that would be the decider.
SET 3 | Green Bay wouldn’t be held down for long, jumping out to a 6-2 lead at the start of the third set after a Golden Grizzlies attack error. The Phoenix never trailed from that point on, closing the set out with back-to-back Schulz’ kills.
SET 4 | Green Bay kept the momentum going, ending the match with a 25-18 fourth-set victory. The Phoenix took control of the set at 3-2 and never looked back. The offense led the way once again for the Green & White, finishing with 16 kills and two errors with a .412 attack percentage.

ON THE HORIZON
The Phoenix will close out their short homestand tomorrow against Oakland at 2 p.m. before hitting the road for a three-game set against Horizon League leaders Wright State and Milwaukee. GB will take on Wright State on Friday and Saturday before heading to Milwaukee on Tuesday, Oct. 29.##
