GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who allegedly shot his father during an argument pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease of defect Monday.
Sedric King is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the March 16 incident in Ashwaubenon.
No trial date was set. He returns to court Sept. 18 for a status conference.
If convicted at trial, a second phase of the trial would be needed to determine if King should be held responsible for his actions due to his mental state at the time of the incident.
King allegedly shot Dennis James in the hip with a .45 caliber handgun at a residence on Santa Barbara Drive. James said the two argued about an electrical fuse box being taken apart by King, according to the criminal complaint. James was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
