STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The U.S. Coast Guard awarded a multi-million dollar contract to a Sturgeon Bay business.
The $5.2 million deal between the Coast Guard and Marine Travelift was announced Wednesday. Officials say the contract is for equipment used in maintenance and repairs of the Coast Guard fleet. It also includes the construction of a 620-ton mobile boat hoist — the largest such unit any U.S. federal agency has ever acquired.
The contract is estimated to support 50-60 jobs.
“Marine Travelift is honored to be selected for this critical task to support the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard,” Erich Pfeifer, Marine Travelift’s president and CEO, said in a news release. “They deserve the best U.S.-built equipment to help accomplish their life-saving missions.”
