GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Merissa Reed was sentenced Tuesday to one year in jail for crashing into a building, which then had to be demolished.
Reed, 30, previously pleaded no contest to reckless driving causing great bodily harm and bail jumping. She was also convicted in an unrelated case of four misdemeanor counts of neglecting a child and one possession of narcotic drugs count.
She was also placed on probation for four years, and had her driver’s license revoked for a year by Judge Samantha Wagner. Restitution has yet to be finalized.
Before the sentence was issued, Reed apologized for the crash.
Reed was driving on Main Street on July 23, 2023, when she crashed into the building known as Main Street Commons. The structure later had to be torn down due to the damage. The Main Street Commons building was home to several businesses, including The Main Salon and Spa.
A passenger in Reed’s vehicle suffered injuries to his hip and pelvis, according to the criminal complaint. Reed told police that she was cut off by another driver and lost control of her vehicle.
