(LEARFIELD) – For the Bucks to have a chance at an NBA title they need their Big 3 of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton on the court.
It was hoped that would be the case in the upcoming season but a weekend report indicates Middleton’s recovering from offseason ankle surgery is going slower than the team hoped.
Now, it appears the All-NBA performer could miss the first few games of the season.
Middleton hasn’t been cleared to take part in 5-on-5 drills during preseason practices.
He showed what he could do when he averaged nearly 25 points, more than nine rebounds, and almost five assists a game during Milwaukee’s brief appearance in the playoffs last season.
Team officials are still hoping he will be able to go for the season opener.
The Buck play their pre-season opener on October 6 in Detroit against the Pistons with the regular-opener October 23 in Philadelphia against the 76ers.
