(WTAQ-WLUK) — A Peshtigo man was sentenced Friday to 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor.
Officials say Zachary Zastawniak, 24, “knowingly” persuaded a minor into sending him a sexually explicit video.
As part of his plea agreement, Zastawniak admitted to using social media platforms to victimize “numerous minors in Oconto County and Northeast Wisconsin by employing coercive techniques to force them to engage in sexual activity.”
Judge Griesbach described the case as “horribly aggravated” and stated that Zastawniak repeatedly made “evil decisions” and engaged in “monstrous behavior.”
Judge Griesbach also described Zastawniak’s prior involvement in similar crimes as “quite frightening.”
Many of Zastawniak’s victims spoke at Friday’s sentencing hearing.
After completing his sentence, Zastawniak will serve 25 years on supervised release and be required to register as a sex offender.
