(247NEWSSOURCE/LEARFIELD) MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have clinched the National League Central Division title.
The Chicago Cubs fell to the Oakland A’s 5-3 yesterday which gave the division to Milwaukee.
It’s the Brew Crew’s third NL Central crown in three of the last four years and marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons the team will compete in the playoffs.
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio spoke about clinching the division title.
General Manager Matt Arnold said that it’s a good feeling.
He added that he’s excited to win the division title.
Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskiins said that after no one picked them to win the NL Central, proving them wrong in satisfying.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy who is in his first year as Brewers manager said that he is thrilled for all of this.
And that coming out of spring training, nobody was picking the Brewers to win.
The Brewers then went out and walked-off the Phillies 2-1 at American Family Field.
Jake Bauers stepped up in the bottom of the ninth and laced the game-winning single.
Devin Williams earned the win in relief while Freddy Peralta gave up the lone run on two hits and struck out nine batters over five innings.
Milwaukee has won three-of-five and is 88-and-64
Next up for the Brewers are the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first of four games at American Family Field.
Tobias Myers gets the start. He’s 8-and-5 with a 3.07 ERA.
Arizona counters with Brandon Pfaadt, who is 9-and-9 with a 4.81 ERA.
