OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) –An annual event in Oshkosh tunes up to tackle hunger.
Oshkosh Corporation hosted its seventh annual ‘Feed the Body, Feed the Soul’ event at the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh Thursday.
More than 1,000 volunteers come together for 12 hours to package and prepare 200,000 pounds of rice for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
The initiative feeds the bodies of those with food insecurities while feeding the soul of volunteers.
Live music from NEW Dueling Pianos energized the volunteers while they packed and learned more about the needs in their community.
“What we wanted to do is really create a momentum. We wanted to bring people together from other companies that are sponsoring this event, bringing their team members here, building a team that can help solve hunger in our communities because we know, one of our values at Oshkosh Corporation, is we are better together,” said vice president of community engagement at Oshkosh Corporation, Jodie Larsen.
Since its inception seven years ago, the event has packaged more than one million pounds of food for those in need.
In conjunction with Thursday’s event, Oshkosh Corporation announced the U.S. Army placed a $72.9 million order for additional Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) A2.This is Oshkosh’s fourth FMTV A2 order this year, including a $108.9 million order in May 2024 for the US Military and its international partners.
