NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The remains and headstones of a pet cemetery in Neenah will be relocated later this month.
The Neenah Animal Shelter officially moved into its new facility last month.
The old property, located at 951 County Road G, consists of a building, a pond and a pet cemetery.
Before the property is sold, the remains and headstones in the cemetery will be moved to a memorial garden at Forrest Run Pet Cemetery in Sherwood.
“Although the cost is in excess of $65,000, the board thought this was the best way to preserve the memory of these pets and allow them to rest with dignity and respect,” said Craig Fisher, treasurer of the board of directors.
The relocation will be done mid-August.
Officials say if you have your pets remains and/or headstone in the cemetery and you would like to remove them and take them home, you can do so before the relocation process begins. Contact craig@neenahanimalshelter.org for further information.
