GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Water rates will rise next month for Green Bay customers.
Green Bay Water released its new water service rates Monday that will go into effect on Aug. 1, 2024.
Green Bay Water filed the rate case with the PSCW on January 3 to help the utility pay for much-needed investments and maintenance of the water system.
The average residential customer will pay about $12 more per quarterly bill than they do today.
“Reinvesting in the drinking water system is how we’re able to keep on delivering safe, reliable tap water to the more than 100,000 people who depend on us every day,” said Green Bay Water General Manager Brian Powell. “Given that there has been no adjustment in the rates for four years, this represents an increase of about 4.5% per year, which is below the rate of inflation for other sectors, and I am proud to say that even with this increase our water will still be under a penny per gallon.”
The increase also recovers costs from significant investments made in the last four years to maintain and upgrade the system where needed.
