WINNECONNE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police seized drugs and extensive amounts of paraphernalia after executing a search warrant at a Winneconne home Sunday.
Officers with the Winneconne and Omro police departments conducted the search around 10 a.m. at a residence in the 400 block of S. 2nd Avenue. It stemmed from previous drug seizures in Lake Winneconne Park last week.
Officials said “numerous items of contraband” were located at the home:
- More than 100 used syringes
- Several loaded syringes with a substance that field tested positive for the presumptive presence of methamphetamine
- Illegally possessed prescription pills
- Pipes used for smoking illegal substances
- Other drug paraphernalia
Prior to this search, the suspect — a man living in Winneconne — had been arrested on an unrelated matter. He is currently on a deferred adjudication agreement for a recent conviction for possession of methamphetamine.
Police say the man, currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail, is now facing additional charges, including:
- Maintaining a drug dwelling
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I/II narcotic
- Possession of an illegally obtained prescription medication
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
In a news release, Winneconne Police Chief Ben Sauriol said while the total amounts of narcotics seized during this search were not substantial, his department “will do everything in its power to make sure drug users and/or distributors of these dangerous substances will be held fully accountable.”
