GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin’s largest health philanthropy announced a major funding investment that aims to advance the well-being and health equity of Wisconsinites in several priority areas.
At a conference held Thursday at Lambeau Field, the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin (AHW) Endowment revealed its $50 million investment. The landmark initiatives AHW chose to tackle in the next three years are hypertension control, childhood behavioral health and health workforce well-being.
Dr. Jesse Ehrenfeld delivered the conference keynote and made the funding announcement. Ehrenfeld serves as the director of the AHW Endowment and senior associate dean at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
“I’d like to deputize all of you to help us address the societal and environmental factors affecting the health and well-being of the people, communities and populations of our beautiful state of Wisconsin,” Ehrenfeld said.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of AHW, which was established by the Medical College of Wisconsin to steward a financial gift from Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin. Since its inception in 2004, AHW has invested over $338 million in nearly 650 projects statewide related to health research, workforce development and community health initiatives.
