HOBART, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A plan to turn one of Brown County’s largest residential homes into a substance abuse recovery center has been withdrawn.
Hobart village leaders say Summit Behavioral Health on Thursday pulled its application. The Tennessee-based company had applied for a conditional use permit to turn the mansion into a 48-bed recovery facility for people addicted to drugs and alcohol who voluntarily want to get better. A public meeting that had been set for July 2 has been canceled.
At public meetings in May and June, neighbors raised concerns about safety, declining property values and privacy.
The 16,392-square-foot home on Fonda Fields Court is listed for sale at $3.49 million. It has sat mostly empty since being built 20 years ago.
Summit Behavioral Health owns and operates Willow Creek Behavioral Health on Green Bay’s far east side.
