(WTAQ-WLUK) — The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office assisted in an online sex crimes investigation that led to the arrest of an Illinois man.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, a federal grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday alleging 61-year-old Terrence E. Fabino of Grayslake, Illinois, “engaged in the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted transfer of obscene matters to a minor.”
The indictment states in Nov. 2023, Fabino “knowingly attempted to employ, use, persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.” It also alleges in Oct. 2023, Fabino attempted to transfer obscene material to a minor under 16 years old.
If convicted of the enticement charge, Fabino faces a mandatory 15-year prison sentence and a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. If convicted of the transfer of obscenity charge, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment.
Although the news release states the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office helped investigate the case, no details regarding the connection between the two were provided.
