(WTAQ-WLUK) — Even in Minnesota Vikings’ territory, a former Green Bay Packers player continues to give back to Wisconsin students.
Aaron Jones donated 500 pairs of shoes to schools in the Green Bay and Milwaukee areas as part of his A&A All The Way Foundation’s Yards for Shoes Campaign.
While playing for the Packers in the 2023 season, Jones pledged to donate a pair of shoes for every rushing yard he gained, up to 1,000 yards. Jones exceeded expectations with over 880 rushing yards.
Jones also donated shoes to students in his hometown of El Paso, Texas.
“I love this campaign. Seeing the smiling faces on these kids every year is really touching. It feels great to give back to the community and support these kids,” said Jones.
In addition to the shoe donations, Cousins Subs will be providing custom socks with every pair of shoes distributed in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin schools that received shoes are:
Green Bay locations:
Elmore Elementary School
Eisenhower Elementary School
Danz Elementary School
Sullivan Elementary School
Nicolet Elementary School
Washington Middle School
Milwaukee locations:
Gwen T. Jackson Elementary School
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School
Bruce Elementary School
Westside Academy
Story Elementary School
Albert E. Kagel Middle School
After the Packers released Jones at the end of the 2023 season, he signed a one-year $7 million deal with the Vikings.
