FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Adam Richardson was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison for a drunk driving crash which killed his wife and brother-in-law.
He was also placed on extended supervision for five years by Judge Anthony Nehls.
Before the sentence was issued, several family members addressed the court with varying sentence recommendations. Richardson was often emotional during those comments.
Richardson apologized, calling the pain of causing the death of his wife and a man he loved like a brother “unbearable.”
“The guilt I carry, every second, every day. And I hurt so many people I love and care about, and have to see it on their faces every day. This is nightmare, and my reality,” he said. “I’ll never forgive myself.”
The crash happened on Feb. 26, 2022, in the area of Highway 151 at County Highway WH in the town of Taycheedah. When a deputy arrived, it appeared a vehicle struck a tree and the vehicle was split in half. Richardson’s wife, Samantha, was killed, as was Charley Osborn, Samantha’s brother.
Richardson told the deputy the three were coming from a fundraiser where he had been drinking at, the criminal complaint says.
