(WTAQ-WLUK) — Deteriorating road conditions caused by winter storms have triggered a tow ban in Outagamie County.
“A countywide tow ban has been issued due to weather effective immediately,” said a message from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, sent Tuesday evening.
Tow bans are issued when officials determine conditions are too dangerous to perform roadside services, such as pulling vehicles out of ditches or towing stalled or wrecked vehicles. As a result of the ban, any vehicle which is not an immediate hazard will not be towed until conditions improve.
No timeline was provided as to when the ban will be lifted. A Winter Storm Warning is in place until 1 p.m. Wednesday for Northeast Wisconsin.
Snow and very strong winds are expected overnight and into Wednesday. This snow will likely be a very wet, heavy snow. Most of the area should pick up six to 12 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon.
