GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — While hundreds of ticket holders to former President Donald Trump’s rally waited outside in rainy, snowy, and extremely windy conditions this afternoon before they were let inside the KI Convention Center, Trump’s detractors criticized his visit.
During a news conference at the Brown County Democratic Party Headquarters, supporters of President Joe Biden talked about the negative impact they say Trump’s first administration had on Green Bay — and Wisconsin.
Their criticisms included the loss of jobs, a lack of tax cuts for the middle class and how Trump’s Supreme Court nominees helped to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Not only did Biden supporters tout his record and what they say are the good things he’s done for Wisconsinites, they implored people to not support Trump because of the harm they say he’s already caused and how damaging they believe another Trump administration could be for Wisconsin.
“Donald Trump has demonstrated a disregard for Wisconsin’s working families. His belated visit to the state will not change the fact that his policies would undermine the progress being made under President Biden,” said Gordon Hintz of the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council.
“Trump’s disdain for clean energy initiatives threatens to eliminate thousands of union jobs and stifle economic growth. The choice is clear: President Biden’s commitment to working families and investment in America is creating real change, right here in Wisconsin. So let us reject the failed policies of the past and embrace a future of opportunity and prosperity under President Biden’s leadership.”
An anti-Trump billboard along Ashland Avenue in Green Bay, which was paid for by the Democratic National Committee, is only running Tuesday to coincide with Trump’s visit.
