TOWN OF GIBRALTAR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After receiving a lot of feedback about plans to reconfigure roads and parking lots around Peninsula State Park’s Eagle Tower, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is coming up with a revised plan.
The DNR is working on a variance to its Northern Lake Michigan Coastal Regional Master Plan. The variance would allow more parking and the rerouting or reconfiguration of access roads. The goal is to expand capacity, improve public safety, expand accessibility and alleviate congestion at Eagle Tower, Eagle Terrace and Eagle Panorama.
A public comment period began Jan. 24 and ends Thursday. Because of the volume of comments, the DNR plans to open a second comment period after a revised proposal is prepared.
