APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Jay Scott pleaded guilty Friday to charges he carjacked a woman and her young child in a mall parking lot, driving off with the two of them in the vehicle.
Scott, 51, entered the pleas to charges of carjacking: possess weapon, theft and bail jumping. Charges of kidnapping, forceful abduction of a child and armed robbery were dismissed, but read in. That means the judge can consider them at sentencing, which was scheduled for Feb. 16.
According to the criminal complaint, Scott approached a woman and her four-year-old child in a parking lot at the Fox River Mall in Grand Chute. He showed a knife, took her car keys, then drove off with the two in the vehicle.
The woman and child were eventually able to escape and call police. Scott was later arrested.
