(WTAQ-WLUK) — A Milwaukee man received a 20-year prison sentence Wednesday for his role in a $9.6 million cocaine ring that spanned from Fond du Lac County to Chicago.
In addition to his two decades of confinement, Lateef Strong will also serve 10 years of extended supervision. He was convicted of conspiracy to deliver over 40 grams of cocaine in August.
Officials call Strong the “ringleader” of a 15-person distribution conspiracy that spanned from Fond du Lac County to source cities of Milwaukee and Chicago from July 2017 to April 2018.
Law enforcement dismantled the ring, which was responsible for delivering approximately 97,000 doses of cocaine – about 127 pounds – worth $9.6 million.
District Attorney Eric J. Toney said in a news release:
This sentence reflects the accountability we will continue to aggressively pursue for those to deal drugs in our community. This sentence puts drug dealers on notice on what they can expect in Fond du Lac County when they engage in conspiratorial drug dealing and we hope it serves as a deterrent to those that consider dealing drugs in Fond du Lac County.
Strong is the last of the defendants charged in the conspiracy to have their case concluded.
