APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Jeremy Dismuke was sentenced Friday to five years on probation for a standoff with Kaukauna police in April.
Dismuke, 43, was previously convicted of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
Outagamie County Judge Yadira Rein imposed but stayed a three-year prison term in favor of the probation, with a variety of conditions.
Before he was sentenced, Dismuke did not dispute his guilt, but characterized the police response as “overkill” because of incorrect information police had. He apologized, and said he had no intent to hurt anyone.
Kaukauna police tried to stop Dismuke on the morning of April 6. He fled. Police used a device to deflate his tires, prompting a seven-hour standoff on Fieldcrest Drive. Dismuke tried to run but was arrested.
Dismuke had an active warrant from Tennessee for a felony probation violation, according to the criminal complaint. Dismuke’s attorney said Friday he will waive extradition to return there.
