APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton’s mayor says he is running for re-election in spring.
Mayor Jake Woodford was first elected Appleton’s 46th mayor in April 2020. Woodford took office in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his reelection bid announcement Thursday, Woodford said he is confident in his reelection chances.
“Ultimately, the decision is up to the voters. I hope that the work that I’ve done over the last four years and the way I’ve gone about it demonstrates the kind of leader I am and the way I show up and do the job,” Woodford said. “If that speaks to what the voters of Appleton are looking for, and I hope it does — I sincerely hope it does, because that’s what I’ve been doing the last four years — then I’m confident I’ll continue to serve in this role. But it really comes down to what the voters want.”
Woodford said he is eager to continue the progress he’s made during his tenure.
“Serving my hometown as mayor is an incredible honor,” Woodford said. “As we look to the future, we know we’ll be presented with choices to make about our priorities as a community. I look forward to continuing to work every day with humility, responsibility, and respect to move our community forward.”
Wisconsin’s Spring Election is set for Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
