APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Movies are back in the Fox Valley.
Marcus Valley Grand Cinema hit play on Friday. Their films had been paused for three months.
“We’ve had a lot of guest calling us for weeks wondering when we’re going to open our theatres so we are excited to welcome them back,” Greg Creighton said.
Creighton is the chief operating officer of Marcus Theatres.
Valley Grand Cinema general manager Steve Olson is taking steps to keep moviegoers safe.
“In the auditoriums we’re disinfecting between every showtime, were disinfecting every seat that’s used, every seat that’s next to a seat that’s been used,” Olson said.
That means things will look different the next time you go to see a movie. Moviegoers are on board.
“We’re excited to get back in, have some movie theater popcorn, it just wasn’t the same getting it at home, we came here a couple times to do the drive up popcorn but were ready to go back in the theater and see a movie,” Jenny Rodman said.
“I’m a little nervous coming out because I work with the elderly in a assisted living community, so I would not want to be the staff member who brings the virus to the community,” Stephanie Lorenz said. “But, at the same time, you just have to take a risk sometimes and go out and do something for once.”
One change that could attract even more people are the prices… at least for now.
“All of our tickets are $5 with no up-charges,” Creighton said.
Olson and Creighton say Jumanji and Doolittle are two of the movies that are more in demand right now.
This is the only Marcus Theatre in the area to reopen, so if you want to see any of these movies you’ll have to make the drive.
