LITTLE CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The I-41 overpass for Rose Hill Road – which was damaged in September – won’t be repaired, but will replaced as part of the I-41 expansion project, according to the DOT.
The southbound overpass was struck by a dump truck on Aug. 3. Some work was done on the bridge to remove a damaged girder, but temporary barriers remain in place.
The overpass is within the scope of work for expanding I-41 from four lanes to six lanes, between Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton and Schuering Road in De Pere. Construction on the project starts in spring of 2024.
The Rose Hill overpass is now scheduled to be replaced in 2025, according to a DOT spokesman.
In all six overpasses will be replaced. The others are: Capitol Drive, French Road, Holland Road, Vandenbroek Road, and Buchanan Street.
Other bridge work may be done at the ten interchanges getting improvements.
