GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Parks Department is getting ready to open their pools for the summer; but do they have the staff?
The opening day for Green Bay’s swimming pools is June 10. Recreation Manager, Ann Moeller, says they’re still a few lifeguards short.
“We’re about seven short, but we have a bunch of interviews lined up this week,” said Moeller. “I have quite a few who are not certified who are interested in getting that certification who will be swim testing and interviewing this week as well.”
The first 7-10 days of the pools being open may present some challenges with regards to staffing and hours of operations; as some lifeguards are still training. After that, all pools are expected to be fully operational for the entirety of the summer.
“With the subs that we have on board and some of our guards willing to pick up extra shifts, I think we’ll be able to get through opening day with what we need,” said Moeller. “But we’re still working on that schedule and piecing it together.”
Resch Aquatic Center is fully staffed, while Joannes and Colburn still have spots to fill.
