OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As Northeast Wisconsin enters construction season, Outagamie County is reminding drivers how to safely navigate work zones.
This week, the county is celebrating National Work Zone Awareness Week to bring awareness to work zone safety.
Drivers are asked to slow down when in areas of construction and put down their cell phones when behind the wheel.
This comes ahead of the county starting a full slate of road and bridge projects.
“A good way to look at this is not just to look at the men and women who are in the work zones as workers but to look at them as moms or dads or aunts or uncles,” said Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson. “We want to make sure that they’re gonna get home to their families just as safely as we want you to get to your homes and places of work or business.”
The county is also asking residents to come together for safety by wearing orange on Wednesday for Go Orange Day.
