MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Saturday’s winter storm did not miss the city of Menasha, with snow totals at 20 inches.
Although, many people got out and enjoyed Sunday’s sunshine at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve.
“We’re just coming out as a family to enjoy this weather, I know a lot of people get kind of down about snow in spring but I think make the most of it, we’re going to snowshoe, do a little sledding, hopefully see some animals,” says Amy Christensen.
Others came on their own to take in the scenery.
“I just went to church, just a mile down I went to Christ the Rock, and passed it and thought well I’m going to stop it’s beautiful. I wanted to enjoy my vitamin D here instead of going home and walking around the block,” says Vicki Strean.
“Well the other weekend I got a good deer picture, so I’m hoping to maybe get some more of those, maybe a couple cardinal shots or anything else that’s out here really, there’s a lot of really cool wildlife out here,” says Melanie Dritlein.
Hikers say they were shocked with the amount of snow they saw when they woke up Saturday morning.
“It’s crazy, I feel overwhelmed by it honestly,” says Dritlein.
“Would’ve liked a little bit less, but we took advantage of it yesterday and did a little bit of sledding in our front yard. Actually, we made a little snow hill,” says Aubrey DeVos.
“I’m not a fan, but it is pretty, however I am tired of saying how pretty it is,” says Strean.
Others not so much.
“I think it’s awesome, I want more…you know enjoy every season, embrace it, you’re going to have 90 degree weather before you know it and people will probably be sad about that, so enjoy the snow,” says Christensen.
While kids and adults alike had fun in the snow and took advantage of the late season dumping…most are hoping this blast of winter weather is the last of the season.
