SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A planned April referendum for additional funding for the Seymour Community School District will not happen because of a paperwork error.
The district planned to ask voters to approve $12.5 million in additional operating revenue for the next three years on April 4. However, the district did not submit the paperwork to the Outagamie County Clerk in a timely manner, according to District Administrator Kelly Bohn.
As a result, the district pulled the question off the ballot in the Shawano County portions of the district, she said.
The earliest the district could put the item on the ballot will be February, 2024, as there are not fall elections this year.
Meanwhile, the district continues to work on the 2023 budget. Due to the higher-than-normal of retirements, the district expects it will proceed without any layoffs, but other budget cuts are expected, Bohn said.
