Two members of the St. Norbert Men’s Hockey team are bringing home silver medals from the World University Games that wrapped up in Lake Placid, New York over the weekend. Brendan Mark and Michael McChesney wore the red, white and blue and appeared in all seven tournament games. The US squad reached the final where they bowed to Canada 7-2 in the gold medal game on Sunday.
The men’s hockey team could garner only a single point in a weekend series with Marian College, losing 5-4 in a shootout on Friday night before getting blanked 1-0 on Saturday. The Green Knights are now 11-6-2 on the year and 9-3-1 in the NCHA.
The women’s team split with Lake Forest on the weekend, winning 2-1 and falling 4-3 in a shootout.
On the basketball floor, the St. Norbert men’s and women’s teams both were victorious over Dominican University. The men got 15 points from Michael Payant in a 75-64 win to improve to 11-7 overall and 8-3 in the NACC.
The women stayed perfect in conference play, hitting 10-0 by virtue of their 86-47 rout, led by Kaycee Gierczak’s 22 points. The Green Knight women are 14-3 overall.
