SHAWANO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) — On Wednesday at about 10 p.m. the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Townline Road, just east of State Highway 117, in the Township of Hartland.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found a single 81 year old female from the Cecil area trapped inside the vehicle. Lifesaving measures including CPR were performed, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lieutenant Chris Madle from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office says that the weather contributed to the accident.
“We have no indications of any impairment at this time,” said Madle. “It’s pointing towards it being the road conditions.”
Initial investigation of the incident shows the vehicle entered a ditch and hit a culvert, which launched the car into the air and hit a tree. The vehicle rolled before coming to a rest.
Madle noted that while the woman’s seat belt was buckled, it was buckled behind her and she was sitting on top of it instead of wearing it properly.
The crash is still under investigation; more information may be given as it becomes available.
