GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man charged with producing child pornography pleaded not guilty in federal court Wednesday.
Rocky Sonkowsky, 32, appeared by video from the Oshkosh Correctional Institution before a federal judge in Green Bay. A Feb. 22 trial date was set.
If convicted, Sonkowsky could be sentenced to 15-30 years in prison.
Sonkowsky also faces charges in Oconto County of first-degree sexual assault of a child, and child sexual exploitation. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Thursday in that case.
According to the criminal complaint in that case, Sonkowsky allegedly took nude photos of a toddler while babysitting.
“Sonkowsky commented that his involvement in child pornography activity and his behavior with (the victim) felt wrong and that he would get sick to his stomach at times reflecting on those incidents. Sonkowsky was remorseful for his actions and said he would welcome professional assistance to help him better manage his sexual thoughts and desires directed towards children,” the complaint states.
