GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Due to concerns about the lack of witness availability, a July 11 trial for a former elementary school teacher accused of sexually assaulting students was postponed Wednesday to Oct. 31.
David Villareal, 47, faces five charges, including four of first-degree sexual assault of a child.
Attorneys for the state and defense expressed concerns about key witnesses not being available, so Judge Donald Zuidmulder postponed the trial, which is scheduled to last five days.
All of the incidents involved female students at Baird Elementary in 2015 and 2016. Villareal resigned after the first charges were filed.
