FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The woman who bought the gun used in a Fond du Lac murder was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison.
Callie Bender, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of straw purchasing of a firearm. She was also placed on extended supervision for three years by Judge Dale English.
Bender purchased the weapon for Denell Logan, who was convicted last week for the February 2021 murder of David Posey. Logan will be sentenced Oct. 14.
Prosecutors said Posey went to Logan’s house to buy crack cocaine. While there, Bender told police Posey began to punch Logan and tried to rob them. Logan shot Posey in the leg with a gun Bender allegedly bought for him. Posey drove off and crashed his vehicle a few blocks away. He was taken to the hospital but died, the criminal complaint says.
