OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — UW-Oshkosh has opened a new cybersecurity center.
It’s providing new space for research, training and outreach related to cybersecurity.
Known as the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, the space features real-world threats in a controlled, educational environment.
The director of the security center says he hopes this can help extend skills for all types of students.
“We really want to be the embodiment of Wisconsin ideas that the universities here in the UW System are not just here to educate students, but to be meaningful in the everyday lives of Wisconsinites,” said Michael Patton, the center’s director.
The center is free to students and will offer programming for the greater Oshkosh community.
