OCONTO FALLS, WI (WTAQ) — The Oconto Falls Police Officer who was shot last week when a suspect assaulted her and stole her gun has been identified.
On Facebook, the Oconto Falls Police department named her as Nicole Blaskowski.
Alisha Kocken, 29, has been charged in the shooting. Competency issues have been raised.
Police say that Blaskowski was shot while responding to a call Kocken had made to the police department saying her boyfriend had kidnapped her daughter. The call turned into a physical altercation when Kocken allegedly attacked Blaskowski, drug her to the ground, and managed to unholster her firearm, shooting three times–one bullet struck Blaskowski in her bulletproof vest, the other grazed her above her eye, and the third shot missed entirely.
Blaskowski survived and was released from the hospital over the weekend.
In the Facebook post, Oconto Falls Police say Blaskowski is a wife and mother of three.
“Nicole is intelligent, kind, meticulous, organized, and a dozen other things that make her a good human and a good officer,” read the post. “And we are darn PROUD to call her one of our own.”
