GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A sure sign that summer is around the corner: the Brown County Trail System is opening up this Saturday.
It’s something they’re excited to do.
“The parks department will be opening up the mountain bike trails at the reforestation camp the horse riding trails at Neshota Park, as well as the Fox River horse trails,” said Parks Director Matt Kriese.
He says the trails got a lot of use last year during the COVID-19 Pandemic as people looked outdoors for entertainment.
“The overall recreational use trends had been increasing even prior to 2020 with COVID,” Kriese said. “We expect that increased trend to continue through 2021.”
Officials ask riders and hikers to be good trail stewards and remain off the trails after heavy rains.
Some additional tips:
• Purchase your trail pass before riding…all funds support the maintenance of the local trail systems.
• Failure to possess a valid pass will result in a $10 violation notice and a requirement to purchase an annual pass.
• County trail passes (Reforestation Camp & Neshota) are: $5/day or $30/year
• State trail passes (Fox River Trail) are: $5/day or $25/year
• Passes can be purchased at trailheads or online at www.browncountyparks.org
