(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers continued to struggle, falling 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Miller Park on Friday.
The Brewers led 2-1 after seven innings but the Pirates rallied against the Brewers bullpen as Bryan Reynolds worked a walk from Junior Guerra and scored on a fielder’s choice later in the inning to tie the game.
The go-ahead run for the Pirates came in the ninth inning off Jeremy Jeffress.
Elias Diaz got a walk from Jeffress with one out, went to third on a single by Jose Osuna and then scored when the Brewers couldn’t turn a doubleplay on a ball hit back to Jeffress.
The Pirates got their first run on a home run by Kevin Newman who extended his hitting streak to 18 games.
The Brewers’ runs came early. Yasmani Grandal scored on a wild pitch by Chris Archer in the first inning with Eric Thames doubling home the second run of the inning later.
Pittsburgh closer Felipe Vazquez (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Brandon Woodruff will pitch for the Brewers tonight who trail the Chicago Cubs by one game in the National League Central. The Cubs lost to Cincinnati 6-3 on Friday.
