PITTSBURGH, PA (METRO) – Junior Guerra gave up a tiebreaking three-run homer in the seventh inning and the Brewers lost 6-5 to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
Keston Hiura hit a two-run shot in the eighth to get Milwaukee close. Jesus Aguilar homered twice for the Brewers in the setback.
Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is out of tonight’s All-Star Home Run Derby in Cleveland. He’s withdrawn due to a back issue and been replaced in the eight-man field by the A’s Matt Chapman.
The Brew Crew are back in action Friday at home against the Giants.
Milwaukee closed out the first half by losing five of its last six games. At 47-and-44, the Brewers are a half-game behind the NL Central-leading Cubs and a half game out of a wild-card spot.
