GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Aladdin. Frozen. Cinderella. Moana.
The sounds of Disney movie favorites are a sign that things are slowly starting to get back to normal at the Resch Center.
Disney on Ice Presents: Dream Big will be performing at the Resch Center starting Thursday, February 11th, and running until February 21st.
Getting back out on the ice is a big relief for ensemble skater Morgan Johnson, 22, of Buffalo, New York. When the COVID-19 pandemic first broke out last spring, she found herself out of a job. She kept at it, though, and stayed in performance shape so she could join Disney on Ice when it started up again in October.
“I’m just so thankful to be here,” Johnson said. “We’re just extra grateful, and I think it makes every performance even more special now that we know how quickly it can be taken away from you.”
She hopes that thankfulness is noticed by the Resch Center audience.
“I think for the short time the audience is here, it’s like an escape from reality,” Johnson told WTAQ. “They can just dive into the Disney Magic, forget everything that’s going on outside, and just enjoy.”
Disney on Ice was among the first national touring shows to restart after things ground to a halt last spring. It’s the first national touring show to return to Wisconsin.
Tickets start at $20. Masks are required unless actively eating or drinking, and social distancing is in place throughout the Resch Center.
