GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County’s 2021 budget is calling for a second clinician to help law enforcement with calls involving mental health crises.
The Brown County Health and Human Services (HHS) department set aside money to expand a pilot program introduced in 2019 that added a clinical social worker position to team with a Green Bay Police officer to diffuse mental health crisis events. Initial projections show that this would save Brown County taxpayers about $33,000 annually.
Local leaders will meet Tuesday to discuss the proposal.
