LOS ANGELES, CA (WTAQ) — The Milwaukee Brewers are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after rallying to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers six to four in Game Four of the National League Championship Series Thursday. Garrett Mitchell hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, completing a comeback after Milwaukee fell behind four to nothing early in the game.
The Brewers tied the score in the fifth inning after capitalizing on four walks by the Dodgers’ bullpen. Mitchell then launched a 409-foot homer to center field to put Milwaukee ahead. David Hamilton added an insurance run with a solo home run in the ninth, while Milwaukee’s bullpen shut down several late Los Angeles scoring threats to seal the win and complete a four-game sweep of the defending champions.
Milwaukee will now host Games One and Two of the World Series, with Game One scheduled for Friday, October 23, at American Family Field. Games Six and Seven, if necessary, will also be played in Milwaukee. They’ll go on to face the winner of the American League Championship Series, where the Cleveland Guardians are currently up on the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1.
