(WIAC) – The WIAC announced its WIAC/Kwik Trip players of the week for the week ending September 26.
FOOTBALL
Offense
Tommy Novotny, Freshman (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Marquette), Running Back of UW-Whitewater
Novotny accounted for three touchdowns in the Warhawks’ 69-0 shutout at Keystone last week. The freshman averaged 11.0 yards per carry totaling 99 yards on nine attempts, including a pair of rushing touchdowns. Novotny added a 45-yard punt return for touchdown in the second quarter.
Defense
Walker Powers, Junior (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), Defensive Line of UW-Whitewater
Powers paced the impressive Warhawk defense that held the Giants to just a single rushing yards and 69 yards of total offense Saturday. Powers led UWW with five tackles including 1.5 tackles for a loss of nine yards and a sack for eight yards. He forced one fumble and recovered three of Keystone’s seven fumbles in the contest, returning one for 22 yards.

Hunter Liszka, Sophomore (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North), Kicker of UW-Whitewater
Liszka was a perfect 8-8 in point after attempts in the Warhawks’ 69-0 shutout win over Keystone last week. For the season, he is 22-22 on extra points.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Julia Imai, Junior (Brookline, Mass./Brookline), of UW-Stout Polytechnic
Imai was the top-performing WIAC golfer at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational held at TPC Wisconsin in Madison. She tied for fourth place overall with an 11-over 155, shooting rounds of 78 and 77. Throughout the tournament, she carded three birdies and 12 pars.

Pope recorded two goals and an assist for five points across two contests for the Blugolds. He scored twice in the second half, helping lead the Blugolds to a 5-2 comeback victory over Carleton College (Minn.) on Sept. 22.

Carlson recorded her first collegiate hat-trick – the Warhawks second of the season – against Alverno College (Wis.) on Sept. 26. She dealt out an assist on the Warhawks goal in the 16th minute, then scored back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 25th minute before completing the hat trick in the 63rd minute. Earlier in the week against Wheaton College (Ill.), Carlson had the assist on the lone goal of the game to give the Warhawks a 1-0 win. On the week, she recorded three goals and two assists.

Wawrzyn helped lead UW-La Crosse’s defense to a 7-0 win over North Park University (Ill.) on Sept. 23. The Eagles held the Vikings to seven shots with two on goal and one corner kick. UW-La Crosse improved to 8-0, matching its best start in school history set last season.

Molly Garber, Junior (Blaine, Minn./Blaine), of UW-Stout Polytechnic
Garber led the Blue Devils to their first WIAC victory since 2023 with a 5-2 win over UW-River Falls on Sept. 23. At No. 1 singles, she battled for nearly three hours to secure a 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (17-15) victory, highlighted by an impressive 12 match points saved. Furthermore, Garber dominated the 2026 Gustie Invite, winning her bracket with a series of decisive victories: a 4-1, 4-1 win over UW-Eau Claire’s Brooke Boland; a 2-4, 4-0 (10-5) win against UW-Whitewater’s Chloe Knutson; a 5-3, 4-0 semifinal victory over Buena Vista University’s (Iowa) Hannah Higgins; and a 6-1, 6-3 sweep of St. Norbert College’s (Wis.) No.1 Jordan Dominick in the finals.

Andrae and Weaver reached the semifinal match in the ITA Midwest Regional in St. Peter, Minn. After a first round bye, the Warhawk duo won their first three matches with scores of 8-5, 8-2, and 8-4. In the semifinal match, Andrae and Weaver fell to the top-overall seed and eventual champions from Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.).

Dix led UW-Whitewater to a 3-1 win over UW-Stout in the team’s WIAC opener on Sept. 24. She paced the Warhawks offensively hitting .619 with 14 kills in 21 attempts, while committing just a single attack error. The conference’s leading blocker also added six blocks to her season total. For the week, Dix averaged 3.50 kills and 1.50 blocks per set.

Panasuk led the back row for UW-Oshkosh during a 2-0 week, totaling 37 digs across six sets for an average of 6.17 digs per set as the Titans earned a pair of three-set victories. She opened the week with 15 digs in UW-Oshkosh’s WIAC-opening sweep of UW-River Falls, helping hold the Falcons to a .000 hitting percentage for the match. Panasuk followed with a match-high 22 digs, averaging 7.33 per set, in a sweep of Milwaukee School of Engineering as the Titans limited the Raiders to a .052 hitting percentage, including a -.129 mark in the third set. She did not commit a reception error across the two matches while helping the Titans improve to 13-1 overall and 1-0 in WIAC play.
