(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – TThe Marquette University women’s soccer team (3-1-4, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) battled Loyola (3-2-3, 0-0-0 A10) to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields.
After a scoreless first half, both teams found the back of the net within a span of just one minute in the second half.
Loyola struck first in the 67th minute, but Marquette quickly answered. Kiley McMinn found the equalizer at the 67:32 mark, scoring her first goal of the season off assists from Clare Shea and Callie Hefner.
The two teams continued to trade chances throughout the remainder of the match, but neither could find a go-ahead goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Mia Hurd made five saves for the Golden Eagles, all coming in the second half. Hurd made a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes to help preserve the draw.
Marquette finished with 13 shots, including seven on goal. McMinn and Lilly Coats each recorded two shots, while Ava Jack Shaw put both of her attempts on frame. Ella McAleenan and Shea also recorded shots on goal.
