Mrs. Gun requested a desert recipe for this week, so here we go! Strawberries on the grill. Anyone else having a tough time finding strawberries this summer? This recipe is just for two, so be sure to multiply it up if making it for the family!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1 pint strawberries
- 4 tsp dark rum
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1 Tbsp butter
- pound cake
- strawberry ice cream
Start by prepping your strawberries. Hull, wash, and slice your berries, and place them in a bowl. Add the rum, sugar, and vanilla and toss to coat. Leave it sit for a while, stirring occasionally, to get them ready for grilling.

When you are ready to grill, probably after dinner when you are ready for dessert, get the grill set up for medium direct heat. Take a disposable foil pan and melt the butter, then add the strawberry mixture. Close the lid and let it cook for around 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

At this time, add the pound cake to the grill and hit it for about a minute on each side, just to toast it a bit and get some nice grill marks.

Once the berries are nice and soft and the pound cake is toasted, it’s time to serve. Place the pound cake on the bottom of a bowl, top with a scoop (or two – no judgement) of strawberry ice cream, and cover the works with your grilled, warm, gooey strawberries!

On second thought, just double the recipe for you! 😉
