(LEARFIELD) – The San Diego Padres swept the Milwaukee Brewers by taking an 11-inning walk-off win Wednesday afternoon 4-3 in San Diego.
Brewers starting pitcher Dustin May went the first seven, holding San Diego to a single run and four hits.
Relievers Chad Patrick and Aaron Ashby gave up the tying run in the eighth, then the Padres scored twice in the 11th to claim the win.
The Brewers had taken a 3-2 lead in the 11th inning on a double by Gary Sanchez.
In the 11th, Antonio Senzatela who took the loss gave up a game-tying sacrifice fly to Jackson Merrill and a game-winning single to Luis Campusano.
Milwaukee got a home run from catch Gary Sanchez, but was held to five hits.
Adrian Morejon got the win for San Diego to improve to 9-2.
With the Brewers loss and the Chicago Cubs 12-6 win over the Washington Nationals, the Brewers’ lead in the NL Central is now 3 games.
It doesn’t get any easier.
Shane Drohan starts the first game of a four-game weekend series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers tonight.
Drohan is 6-4 with a 3.87 ERA.
The Dodgers will counter with Roki Sasaki who is 5-5 with a 4.54 ERA.
