MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Students at Gegan Elementary School now know where they will be learning for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
The Menasha Joint School District announced Monday afternoon that they will be temporarily placed in two elementary schools this fall.
Starting August 31, Gegan students will be split between Butte des Morts Elementary School and Clovis Grove Elementary School.
This split is based on existing attendance boundaries, with Highway 47 used as the divider.
It was not announced how long the students will be absent from Gegan Elementary.
“Our responsibility was to make the decision that best serves students,” Menasha Joint School District Superintendent Dan Slowey said.
Throughout this process, one question guided every conversation: Does this decision ensure every Gegan student begins the school year surrounded by outstanding teachers, caring staff, safe learning environments, and everything they need to be successful? While no option was perfect, we believe this approach best reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience while preserving the relationships and supports that matter most.
The district says it will continue sharing updates on the school year, including classrooms, transportation, arrival and dismissal procedures, and school care will be released in the coming weeks.
