MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The suspect in bar stabbing Memorial Day weekend pleaded not guilty Monday to aggravated battery and disorderly conduct charges.
Jason Kallenbach, 40, also waived his preliminary hearing on those counts. He returns to court Oct. 20 for a status conference, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the Pit Stop Bar in Niagara on May 23 for a stabbing. The victim had a makeshift torniquet around his leg.
Patrons identified Kallenbach as the suspect.
One witness said Kallenbach and the victim were talking. Kallenbach left, returned with a knife, and then stabbed the victim. Both had been drinking, according to the complaint.
When police tracked down Kallenbach, “Jason just stated I screwed up,” the complaint states.
