(WNFL) – Electric.
That may be the only way to describe Jacob Misiorowski’s pitching in the Milwaukee Brewers’ 6-0 win over the New York Yankees Friday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Misiorowski pitched 6 innings, blanking the Yankees on 2 hits and 2 walks. But it was what he did with his fastball that was amazing.
In striking out 11 Yankees batters, Misiorowski topped 103 mph on the radar gun 10 times.
Since MLB started tracking this in 2008, Misiorowski now has the 7 fastest fastballs thrown by a starting pitcher.
As for the offense, the Brewers took a 4-0 lead in the second inning on run-scoring singles by Brandon Lockridge and Sal Frelick. Joey Ortiz hit into a run-scoring groundout and Jackson Chourio singled home the final run of the inning.
Lockridge made it 5-0 with a single in the third inning.
The final run of the game scored in the seventh on a single by William Contreras.
Misiorowski improved to 3-2 with the win. Shane Drohan pitched the final 3 innings to get his first save of the season.
The Brewers and Yankees play the second game of the series tonight at American Family Field.
Cam Schlittler who is 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA will start for the Yankees. The Brewers will counter with Kyle Harrison who is 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA.
The game can be heard beginning at 5:35 with the pre-game show on 97.5 and 1360 WTAQ.
